Baseball Recap: St. James Tigers vs. St. Clair Bulldogs
St. James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 9-3 loss at the hands of the St. Clair Bulldogs. St. James was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Clair apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
St. James saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Perkins, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Drake Plummer, who went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
Even though they lost, St. James didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. This was only their tenth loss (out of 12 games) when they post five or more strikeouts.
On St. Clair's side, Carter Short was incredible, scoring a run and stealing six bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Record, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
St. James' loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for St. Clair, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
St. James will play host again on Monday to welcome Waynesville, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. As for St. Clair, they will head out on the road to take on North County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Clair will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
