Baseball Game Preview: Sebastopol Bobcats vs. Morton Panthers

The Sebastopol Bobcats will take on the Morton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sebastopol, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, it was close, but Sebastopol sidestepped Scott Central for a 13-12 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Sebastopol let Ike Strickland and Mays McDill run wild. Strickland scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while McDill scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Strickland a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Lowry Moore, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Morton didn't have quite enough to beat Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday and fell 6-5. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Sebastopol's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Morton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Sebastopol came out on top in a nail-biter against Morton when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sebastopol since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
