Football Recap: Cleburne Comes Up Short

Cleburne lost against Port Arthur Memorial back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellowjackets were outmatched by the Titans and fell 52-14. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while the Titans are ranked 74th).

Cleburne's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of CJ Kensley, who picked up 120 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Luke Stewart, who threw for 175 yards and one TD.

Cleburne's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Port Arthur Memorial, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Cleburne and Port Arthur Memorial will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Yellowjackets will challenge rival Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Port Arthur Memorial is set to face off against their familiar foe Beaumont United at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
