Baseball Recap: Ardrey Kell Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Ashley on Monday, Ardrey Kell came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday.

Ardrey Kell got a good showing from Matthew Slattery, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Slattery has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owen Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Colby Epperly, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Ardrey Kell's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Ardrey Kell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-4 defeat against Lucy Beckham on the 16th. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-3 victory against Fort Dorchester on the 16th.
