Basketball Game Preview: Vidalia Indians vs. East Laurens Falcons

The Vidalia Indians will challenge the East Laurens Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Vidalia comes in on 14 and East Laurens on six.

Vidalia is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Elbert County with a 44-38 win.

Vidalia had a senior duo take command as Hannah Nichols posted 13 points and four steals and Cori Warner put up six points along with 12 rebounds and five assists. Warner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Vidalia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 57 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, East Laurens was able to grind out a solid victory over Bremen on Friday, taking the game 65-55.

East Laurens' win came from a few key players Vidalia will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mckayela Tanner, who en route to 23 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenda Tanner, who to rack up 11 points and four steals.

Vidalia pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points over those games. As for East Laurens, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Vidalia has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like East Laurens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Vidalia strolled past East Laurens in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 64-49. Does Vidalia have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Laurens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
