Soccer Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Marshfield can now relate to. They came up short against New Richmond on Saturday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Marshfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 148th, while New Richmond is ranked 46th).

Marshfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-11-7. As for New Richmond, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Marshfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Richmond, they will square off against River Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. River Falls' last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
