Football Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Mandeville Skippers + How To Watch

The Slidell Tigers will square off against the Mandeville Skippers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Slidell lost to Warren Easton on the road by a 64-49 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (42), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Slidell got top-tier performance from Wilbert Ricky Williams, who threw for 414 yards and three TDs while picking up 15.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 55 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Jakwan Jones, who rushed for 104 yards and one score.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Slidell, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carlos Flemings Jr., who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mandeville, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 39-14 margin over Carver Collegiate Academy on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Skippers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Rams are ranked 167th).

Slidell better keep an eye on Jax O'Quin. He was instrumental in Mandeville's win, rushing for 79 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. They also got help from Jake Jacketti, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Slidell fell to 2-1. As for Mandeville, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Slidell was dealt a bruising 49-13 defeat at the hands of Mandeville in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Nate Sheppard (who rushed for 185 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
