Football Game Preview: Oak Ridge Trojans vs. Rocklin Thunder

The Oak Ridge Trojans will head out to take on the Rocklin Thunder at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge's defense has only allowed 6.2 points per game this season, so Rocklin's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Oak Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Folsom 45-0. The match marked the Trojans' most dominant win of the season so far.

Oak Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rachel Groth, Ilyana Lampe, and Addison Hemans picked up one apiece. Lampe has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times she's played. Groth got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rocklin beat Whitney 19-13 on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Thunder's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Wildcats are ranked 34th).

Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Rocklin, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Oak Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rocklin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
