Baseball Recap: Mecklenburg County's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Mecklenburg County came into Wednesday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Tunstall Trojans on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in April.

Payton George spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mecklenburg County is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mecklenburg County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Jake Wesson, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Mecklenburg County's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Tunstall, they dropped their record down to 14-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Mecklenburg County nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
