Softball Game Preview: Castaic Coyotes vs. Golden Valley Grizzlies

The Castaic Coyotes will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Valley Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Castaic is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Castaic is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since March 7th on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Ranch by a score of 8-6.

Alexis Steen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Lulu Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 14-4 to Heritage Christian.

Rohan Elhamamsy and Makenzie Jensen did some serious damage despite the final result: Elhamamsy went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Jensen went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Jensen also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

Castaic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Golden Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Golden Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Castaic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Golden Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Castaic keep running through batters, or will the Grizzlies buck the trend?

Castaic took their victory against Golden Valley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Coyotes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
