Soccer Game Preview: Rivera vs. Weslaco East

The Rivera Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Weslaco East Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rivera has four straight victories, Weslaco East has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Rivera is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Pace on Tuesday as Rivera made off with an 8-0 win. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Vikings are ranked 614th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Weslaco East came up short against Donna North on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

Rivera's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Weslaco East, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11-2.
