Softball Recap: Armstrong Comes Up Short

If Armstrong was feeling good fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Georgetown-Ridge Farm last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans fell just short of the Hoopeston Cornjerkers by a score of 8-6 on Monday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Cornjerkers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ashlyn Ackerman and Makenna Ackerman did some serious damage despite the final result: Ashlyn got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Makenna went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Elle Jameson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Armstrong's loss dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Hoopeston, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 2-18 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Armstrong will welcome Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Hoopeston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bunnies will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
