Ranked No. 5 nationally by MaxPreps, DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) came up big late with Washington Catholic Athletic Conference supremacy on the line Saturday.

The Stags (12-0) trailed St. John's (Washington, D.C.) most of the way and fell behind by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter.

But DeMatha battled back and Air Force pledge Beau English connected with Myles Miree on a 27-yard touchdown pass with 1:05 remaining for the playoff game-winner. It gave the Stags a 34-29 win and the WCAC playoff title for the fourth year in a row.

DeMatha is 43-5 overall during that four-year run of dominance.

The Stags also beat St. John's 14-13 back in late September.
