Softball Game Preview: Valley Center Jaguars vs. Central Spartans

The Valley Center Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Central Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Valley Center heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Wednesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sweetwater.

Autumn Wageman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Keliah Harris, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Canyon Crest Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 9-8. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Valley Center has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.

Valley Center took their victory against Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
