Softball Recap: Maumee Comes Up Short

Maumee made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oak Harbor, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Rockets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Autumn Gugger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. B Daniels also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Maumee's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Oak Harbor, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5.

Maumee and Oak Harbor should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Panthers will face off against Genoa Area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (167 vs. 443). Meanwhile, Oak Harbor (ranked 100th) will meet Edison (ranked 259th) at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
