Basketball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Wes-Del Warriors

The Southern Wells Raiders will square off against the Wes-Del Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Southern Wells came up short against Cowan and fell 71-61. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Wes-Del posted their biggest victory since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 65-34 win over Southern Wells. The Warriors pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders had little chance of recovering from.

Southern Wells better keep an eye on Josiah Love. He was instrumental in Wes-Del's win, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 23 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The contest was Love's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Carpenter, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Wes-Del was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Southern Wells' loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Wes-Del, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12.

Southern Wells was dealt a bruising 65-34 defeat at the hands of Wes-Del in their previous matchup on Tuesday. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southern Wells was down 30-6.
