Basketball Recap: Antonio Carson Jr.'s Big Game Can't Quite Lead Benson over Creighton Prep

If Benson was riding high fresh off their 85-44 takedown of Omaha Northwest last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Benson Bunnies lost 64-40 to the Creighton Prep Junior Jays on Tuesday. The game marked the Bunnies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Benson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Carson Jr., who went 7 of 16 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Goanar Bamach, who posted seven points in addition to eight boards and five blocks.

Trinell Parker was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds for Creighton Prep. The dominant performance gave Parker a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Knight, who scored ten points.

Benson has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Creighton Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benson will host Grand Island at 7:15 p.m. on February 4th. As for Creighton Prep, they will welcome Millard North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Millard North's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
