Basketball Recap: Lake of the Woods Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lake of the Woods can now relate to. They were dealt an 80-25 loss at the hands of the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Leading Kelliher/Northome to victory were Kylee Binkley and Kate Thayer. Binkley went 6-for-12 to rack up 20 points along with eight assists and five steals, while Thayer dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Thayer has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 56 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Charli Hallstrom, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Lake of the Woods' loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Kelliher/Northome, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-3.

Lake of the Woods does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kelliher/Northome, they will face off against Badger/Greenbush-Middle River at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
