Softball Recap: Preston Wins Going Away Against Liberty

Preston had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Liberty on Thursday. The Knights blew past the Mountaineers 20-1. That looming 20-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Myla Wotring was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wotring was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Savannah Goff and Rhylinn Sanders did most of the damage at the plate: Goff went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sanders went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave Goff a new career-high. Katlynn Miller also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Preston's record is now 3-6. As for Liberty, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Preston will host Morgantown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will welcome East Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
