Preview: Cosby Titans vs. James River Midlothian Rapids
Cosby is 2-8 against James River Midlothian since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cosby Titans' road trip will continue as they head out to face the James River Midlothian Rapids at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cosby posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They breezed by Huguenot on the road to the tune of 61-21. Given Cosby's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Huguenot is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cosby's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jenaya Gallardo, who scored nine points along with six assists and five rebounds. Gallardo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miah Carter, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, James River Midlothian beat L.C. Bird 43-31 on Thursday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points James River Midlothian has scored all season.
Cosby's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for James River Midlothian, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Cosby was dealt a bruising 54-25 defeat at the hands of James River Midlothian in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Cosby avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
