Baseball Recap: Calhoun Cougars vs. Stony Brook Bears
After flying high against Grace Church School last Tuesday, Calhoun came back down to earth. The Calhoun Cougars lost 11-4 to the Stony Brook Bears on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Calhoun of the 7-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Kai Lefkowitz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of John Freitag, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Calhoun's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Stony Brook, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Calhoun will head out on the road to take on Loyola at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Stony Brook, they will challenge Brunswick School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The pair have allowed few runs on average, (Stony Brook: 3.1, Brunswick School: 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
