While Carroll put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Homestead. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted since April 29th.
Carroll got a great performance from Evan Rinehart as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Rinehart has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Carroll secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Eric Tratnyek, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Carroll's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Homestead, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6.
Coming up, Carroll will head out on the road to face off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Homestead, they will be playing at home against Huntington North at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
