Desert had to settle for second on Tuesday, but Alayna Phillips sure wasn't going down easily. Phillips made a splash, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She was dominant the last time she took on Bishop Union back in April, so they probably should've seen this coming. Phillips has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Phillips and Desert will venture away from home to square off against Rosamond at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Phillips has dominated as far as strikeouts are concerned (she's averaged 8.7 per game this season), but she's got her work cut out for her considering the Roadrunners have only allowed 3.71 per game this season.
