Volleyball Recap: St. Thomas More Starts off Right with Win over Whitnall

St. Thomas More had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Whitnall Falcons on Tuesday. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

St. Thomas More had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-9, 25-18, 28-26.

St. Thomas More was led to victory by Kaylee Kovacovich and Sophia Lobehoefer. Kovacovich had 16 digs and three aces, while Lobehoefer had 14 digs and two aces. Those 16 digs gave Kovacovich a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: St. Thomas More was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

St. Thomas More has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Menomonee Falls on the 29th. Whitnall has also already played their next match (against South Milwaukee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
