Football Game Preview: Monte Alto Blue Devil vs. George West Longhorns

Monte Alto is 0-3 against George West since September of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devil will look to defend their home field against the Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. Monte Alto has given up an average of 59.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monte Alto is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Taft on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Blue Devil were outmatched by the Greyhounds and fell 54-8. The Blue Devil were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Meanwhile, George West put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sabinal 62-14. That looming 62-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Longhorns yet this season.

Monte Alto better keep an eye on Kohen Blount. He was instrumental in George West's win, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 45 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Blount's longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Parker Heard was another key player, rushing for 52 yards and one TD.

George West's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Monte Alto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Monte Alto was dealt a bruising 55-0 loss at the hands of George West in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Blue Devil, Johnalbert Cisneros (who rushed for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
