Baseball Game Preview: Ashland Clockers vs. Westwood Wolverines

The Ashland Clockers will head out to take on the Westwood Wolverines at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ashland has three straight victories, Westwood has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ashland barely beat Dedham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Clockers blew past the Marauders 10-3 on Monday. The Clockers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Grady Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Clark was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Schreiber, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mark Mermelstein, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Ashland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dedham struck out 14 times.

Meanwhile, Westwood didn't have quite enough to beat Holliston on Monday and fell 6-5.

Ashland's record is now 6-3. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Ashland suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Westwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Clockers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
