Volleyball Recap: Start Takes a Loss

Start lost against Springfield back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Blue Devils. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.

Kaden Baker paced Start's offense, picking up 14 kills. Baker got some help from Cameron Sayen and his nine assists. Jaden Brunt controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Springfield was led to victory by Jonah Sheppard and Reed Schwieterman. Sheppard had seven digs and three aces, while Schwieterman had ten assists and nine aces. Sheppard has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times he's played.

Start's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Springfield, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Start will square off against rival Monclova Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Springfield is set to take on their familiar foe HEA Firebirds HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
