Recap: Cummings Cavaliers vs. Chatham Central Bears
The Cummings Cavaliers suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 69-46 defeat at the hands of Chatham Central. It was the first time this season that Cummings let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Cummings lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ja'Kari Dobbins. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. Dobbins hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Briskey, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Cummings struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Reid Albright, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds for Chatham Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albright has scored all season. Luke Gaines was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Cummings' defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4. As for Chatham Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings will face off against Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cummings in North Carolina (Northwood is ranked 49th, while Cummings is ranked 251st). As for Chatham Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Cedar Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
