Softball Recap: East Helena Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hardin on Friday, East Helena came back down to earth. The Vigilantes lost 15-5 to the Laurel Locomotives on Saturday.

Maddie Surginer was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Dearing, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

East Helena has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Laurel, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

While East Helena had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
