Softball Recap: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers vs. Pontiac Indians

Paxton-Buckley-Loda extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-20 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Pontiac Indians. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Pontiac, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Considering they have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Pontiac's part, Elena Krause was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Krause has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Payton Rogers looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Tessa Collins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Vogt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-4 win against St. Thomas More on the 12th. As for Pontiac, they have also already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against Edwardsville on the 9th.
