Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Ware Shoals

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Abbeville, Ware Shoals was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal as the Ware Shoals Hornets made off with a 16-1 victory. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brayden Madden made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jayden Johnson and Jayce Medlin did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Medlin went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Medlin has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Goode, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Ware Shoals always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ware Shoals' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
