Basketball Recap: Okeechobee's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Okeechobee extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Oliver Saunders. The Okeechobee Brahmans were the clear victor by a 54-34 margin over the Pahokee Blue Devils on Wednesday thanks in part to Saunders, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points and six steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in January.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chaynaya'Ah Phillips, who posted seven points and four steals. Phillips is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Okeechobee's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Pahokee, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Okeechobee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-44 victory against Moore Haven on the 13th. As for Pahokee, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
