Football Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

Greenwood extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the Plainfield Quakers, falling 49-14. While losing is never fun, the Woodmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Quakers are ranked 23rd).

As for Plainfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.6 points on average this season.

Luke Starnes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 208 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards. Zander Nattam also helped out with an impressive 118 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Greenwood will take on Perry Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Woodmen will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.2 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Plainfield, they will challenge Decatur Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 925 yards in their previous games.
