Delta Charter is 0-3 against Venture Academy since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Delta Charter Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Venture Academy Mustangs at 3:30 p.m.
Delta Charter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs last Monday, they were much more limited against Waterford last Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The loss was the Dragons' first of the season.
Delta Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Venture Academy won against Edison on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Venture Academy was the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over West. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Maison Gouker was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Stewart, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 5-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Warmsley, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Venture Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Venture Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Delta Charter, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Delta Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Venture Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Delta Charter might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Venture Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Delta Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
