Softball Recap: Discovery Comes Up Short

Discovery lost against Lakeview Charter back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Warriors took a 25-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (11), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Ambert Robert was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, one triple, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Pamela Quiroz, who got on base in five of her nine plate appearances with four runs and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Discovery and nudges their season record down to 5-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeview Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Discovery will head out to challenge Valor Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Valor Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.13 runs per game on average), something Discovery will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lakeview Charter, they will be playing at home against Triumph Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
