Recap: Moore Catholic Mavericks vs. Sacred Heart Academy Spartans
It was a good run, but the Moore Catholic Mavericks unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Sacred Heart Academy. The matchup was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Moore Catholic was outscored by Sacred Heart Academy in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Moore Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianna Caliri. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Caliri's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Felci, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Moore Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Sacred Heart Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moore Catholic will finish 2023 at home by hosting Kennedy Catholic at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Anthony's at 12:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024.
