Softball Game Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. Gibbs Eagles

Seymour hasn't had much luck against Gibbs recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Seymour will venture away from home to take on Gibbs at 6:00 p.m.

Seymour came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Cocke County, falling 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Gibbs was able to grind out a solid win over Clinton on Thursday, taking the game 5-2.

Miah German spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Gibbs let Shelby Williams and Brianna Baker run wild. Williams went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Baker went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Williams has posted since back in March. Victoria Grubbs was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Gibbs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-15-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Seymour might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Gibbs in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can Seymour avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
