Volleyball Game Preview: Argo Argonauts vs. Shepard Astros

The Argo Argonauts will face off against the Shepard Astros at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Argo beat Oak Lawn 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Argonauts in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

The win didn't come easy: Oak Lawn scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Shepard was able to grind out a solid victory over Blue Island Eisenhower on Tuesday, taking the game 2-0.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Shepard was: they took both sets by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-8.

Shepard's win bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Argo, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Argo has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Shepard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Argo couldn't quite get it done against Shepard in their previous meeting on April 4th as they fell 2-0. Can the Argonauts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
