Volleyball Recap: Howards Grove Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kohler on Saturday, Howards Grove came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Despite the defeat, Howards Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sydney Borgen had eight digs and two aces. Borgen has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

The loss snapped Howards Grove's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 20-12 record. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 23-8.

Howards Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against St. Mary Catholic on the 11th. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Sheboygan Christian on the 11th.
