Baseball Recap: Quaker Valley Starts off Right with Win over Carlynton

Quaker Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Carlynton Cougars with a sharp 14-5 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Quakers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Oscar Roig and Todd Kagle made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Roig pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kagle tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Roig scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Kagle scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Kagle has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Cindrich, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kyle Rader was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Quaker Valley has already played their next game, a 19-1 victory against Northgate on the 11th. As for Carlynton, they will challenge Winchester Thurston at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
