Softball Recap: Algonac Wins Going Away Against Grosse Pointe North

Algonac lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Grosse Pointe North, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Muskrats put the hurt on the Norsemen with a sharp 12-1 victory on Monday. For the Muskrats, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 win the Norsemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jaycee Reams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Reams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Michael Kenel was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Madison Grace was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Algonac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Algonac's record now sits at 5-7-1. As for Grosse Pointe North, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Algonac will face off against Armada at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grosse Pointe North, they will square off against Chippewa Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
