Basketball Recap: Greenwood Mennonite Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Greenwood Mennonite is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Chestertown Christian Academy on Saturday, but Chestertown Christian Academy came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Greenwood Mennonite Flames came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chestertown Christian Academy Patriots, sneaking past 49-47. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Flames were the better team in the second half.

Leading Greenwood Mennonite to victory were Carter Long and Jude Harrison. Long went 10-for-25 en route to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Harrison dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Long is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Blake Mast was another key player, putting up seven points.

Greenwood Mennonite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Craig Clark, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points along with seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of John Stoltzfus, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Greenwood Mennonite's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points over those games. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
