Basketball Game Preview: Timpanogos Timberwolves vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle

The Timpanogos Timberwolves will head out on the road to face off against the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Timpanogos, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Juan Diego Catholic's (thus far) undefeated season.

Timpanogos fought the good fight in their overtime game against Maple Mountain on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Timberwolves have suffered against the Golden Eagles since December 20, 2019.

Meanwhile, Juan Diego Catholic earned a 54-46 win over Hillcrest on Tuesday.

Juan Diego Catholic's win came from a few key players Timpanogos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Deng Deng, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. He has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 57% every time he's hit the court this season. Javier Aguirre was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Juan Diego Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Timpanogos, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Timpanogos came up short against Juan Diego Catholic in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 67-62. Thankfully for the Timberwolves, Luke Meyer (who went 9-for-16 on his way to 25 points and eight boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
