South is 10-0 against Eastmoor Academy since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Eastmoor Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
South is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 78-52 margin over Independence on Tuesday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the 76ers are ranked 786th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Glover led the charge by putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Marquan Felts-Lipsey, who posted 14 points.
Meanwhile, Eastmoor Academy entered their tilt with Marion-Franklin on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Devils 85-42. That looming 85-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.
South better focus on containing Dekar Moultry and Phonie Simpkins as the pair were huge in Eastmoor Academy's win. Moultry dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Simpkins dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Moultry is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aayden Johnson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points.
Eastmoor Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.
Eastmoor Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
South didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Eastmoor Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Moultry, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will South still be able to contain Moultry? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
