Basketball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Abner Livingston and Jackson Rowley

If Mount de Sales Academy was feeling good fresh off their 65-28 takedown of First Presbyterian Day last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers came up short against the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers on Saturday, falling 71-46. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mount de Sales Academy had strong showings from Jackson Rowley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Abner Livingston, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and five assists. Rowley is becoming a predictor of Mount de Sales Academy's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Zavion DeShazier, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Fellowship Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaiden Nelson, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five boards. Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Judson Walls was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Mount de Sales Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Mount de Sales Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-64 loss against Tattnall Square Academy on the 14th. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Gatewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gatewood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Central Fellowship Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
