Softball Game Recap: Climax-Scotts Panthers vs. Mendon Hornets

Climax-Scotts had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-8 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Mendon Hornets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 back in April.

As for Mendon, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

For Mendon's part, Ally Butler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Butler has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Cienna Nightingale and Jadyn Samson did most of the damage at the plate: Nightingale went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Samson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brielle Bailey, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Climax-Scotts will face off against Burr Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mendon, they will take on Union City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
