Basketball Game Preview: Wilbur Cross Governors vs. Xavier Falcons

The Wilbur Cross Governors will head out on the road to square off against the Xavier Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wilbur Cross' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 103-57, which was the final score in Wilbur Cross' tilt against Notre Dame on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Governors in their matchups with the Green Knights: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Xavier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-0 loss at the hands of East Hartford. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Hornets are ranked 15th).

Wilbur Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Xavier, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything came up roses for Wilbur Cross against Xavier in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 67-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilbur Cross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
