Basketball Recap: Brentwood Takes Down Gatewood in a Playoff Battle

Brentwood had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Gatewood Gators 56-29 on Friday. The War Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brentwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cadence English, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. The contest was English's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Bailey Barron, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and six blocks.

Brentwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matches.

Brentwood has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Gatewood has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Brentwood will square off against Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Trinity Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. Gatewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
