Skutt Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Duchesne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The SkyHawks will take on the Cardinals in a tournament on Saturday. Skutt Catholic won the last time they faced Gross Catholic and Marin Brummund did her part to make sure it happened again. The SkyHawks blew past the Cougars 3-0 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Brummund, who had 20 digs and three aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Skutt Catholic was: they took every set by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-9, 25-11.
Skutt Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maggie McMahon out in front who had three digs and two aces. Mia Stevens was another key player, getting 16 assists.
They weren't the only good servers: Skutt Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Duchesne came up short against Bennington on Thursday and fell 2-0.
The final score came out to 25-14, 25-16.
Skutt Catholic's win bumped their record up to 23-10. As for Duchesne, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-21.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Skutt Catholic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5 aces per game. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
