Volleyball Recap: Patrick County Starts Season with Victory Against Bassett

Patrick County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the Bassett Bengals 3-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

While Patrick County won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 26-24.

Their offense was headlined by Journey Moore and Jayden Callahan, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Camille Gonzalez and her 25 assists. Madison Scott controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Bassett is taking a road trip to square off against James River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patrick County will be paying especially close attention to the Bengals' contest: after the Bengals face off against the Knights, they'll take on Patrick County again at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
